Crowns & Bridges

Thanks to advances in dentistry that help keep teeth strong and healthy, our teeth are lasting longer than ever. Today we use high-quality, durable dental crowns and bridges that give new life to broken, worn, and missing teeth and restore beauty to your smile.

Dental Crowns Give New Life to Your Smile

Dr. Ron Ko recommends dental crowns for his South Puyallup patients whose teeth are broken or too weak to function on their own. A crown is a cap-like tooth restoration that slips over a weakened tooth to support it and allow you to chew fully on it again.

There are many reasons why your dentist in South Puyallup might recommend a dental crown:

  • Support broken, fractured, or worn teeth
  • Restore a tooth that’s too compromised for a filling
  • Strengthen a tooth after a root canal
  • Restore a dental implant’s function and appearance
  • Anchor a dental bridge to supporting teeth
  • Create a new appearance for short, misshapen, or discolored teeth

Placing a dental crown can significantly extend a tooth’s lifespan and allow you to smile confidently and chew comfortably for ten years or longer.

Dental Bridges Replace Missing Teeth

Tooth loss is all too prevalent, but the good news is that several tooth replacement options are available today to fit every budget. Dental implants get a lot of attention these days, but bridges are still an excellent solution to replace missing teeth for those who don’t want implants.

If you’re missing one or multiple teeth in a row, a bridge is a dental prosthetic that may be the solution you need to fill the gap in your smile. We design your bridge with artificial teeth that sit in the gap and anchor it with crowns to adjacent teeth.

Just as he does with any dental restoration, Dr. Ko uses his eye for artistry to custom craft bridges that restore lost chewing function and complete your smile.

Same-Visit CEREC Dental Crowns, Bridges, and Veneers

First, you’ll meet with Dr. Ko for an evaluation to determine if a tooth crown is right for you. He’ll perform an exam, take digital x-rays that show the tooth’s condition, and explain why he recommends the added support of a dental crown.

Next, our dentist prepares your tooth by removing a small amount of its structure. Dr. Ko uses a digital scanner to take comfortable, no-mess impressions of your teeth that produce a virtual 3-D model.

Planning the fit and design of your new crown in this way helps us complete the design and fabrication process with high precision that ensures optimal results.

Dr. Ko then sends the design to specialized 3-D fabrication equipment in our office, and you can watch as it mills your crown, bridge, or veneer out of a block of porcelain. This process takes less than an hour, and when it’s ready, we will adjust your new crown for fit, polish it, and cement it securely on your tooth.
